Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the process of inserting fine disposable needles at critical points in the body that connect nerves, muscles and organs. We offer acupuncture to treat chronic pain, musculoskeletal and joint pain, headache, cancer treatment side effects, gastrointestinal conditions, and women's health issues including urinary problems, infertility, nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and menopause.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese herbal medicine offers a holistic approach to health, emphasizing balance harmony within the body. These natural remedies can help support various bodily functions, enhance immunity, and promote overall well-being. By addressing both physical ailments and emotional health, Chinese herbs aim to restore the body's natural equilibrium. Because herbal remedies use the whole plant rather than a single, highly concentrated isolated chemical (like synthetic drugs), the body often processes them more gently, leading to fewer acute side effects.

Testimonials

“I had injured my back exercising at my local gym. I pointed out on my back where it was hurting, and Dr. Huang stuck needles into my arm. I'd expected him to put needles where it hurt, but when I got up, the pain in my back had lessened and I felt lighter.”

-Andrew Huang

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient medical treatment; its Chinese roots date back to 300 or 400 A.D. Cupping is said to improve blood circulation, thereby speeding up healing, reducing pain and easing muscle soreness. Suction cups of varying sizes are attached to the body, and the suction lifts your skin and muscles upward to clear out stagnant blood. Hence, the bruise-like marks seen left on the skin after treatment.

Gua Sha (on a case by case basis)

Gua Sha is also an ancient medical treatment that works similar to Cupping. While cupping improves bloodflow by pulling blood to the surface of the skin, Gua Sha improves bloodflow by applying downward pressure to slide over tight muscles and scrape away tension. By bringing a rush of fresh, oxygenated blood to the area, Gua Sha signals your body to rapidly flush out toxins and reduce inflammation. The firm pressure naturally soothes your nervous system, effectively "turning down the volume" on chronic aches and pains. Both are time-tested tools to help your body reset and recover.

Acupressure, Massage, Bodywork

If a patient comes in with insomnia and high anxiety, a Western massage therapist might focus heavily on rubbing tight shoulder muscles. A TCM practitioner will certainly work on the shoulders, but will also perform bodywork on the feet, legs, and wrists to target key areas of circulation. TCM bodywork often includes gently moving a patient's limbs through their natural range of motion while applying pressure to specific points. This opens up the joints, relaxes the nervous system, and allows blood to flow freely to areas that have been restricted by poor posture or injury.
